Battlestar Galactica: Don’t We Already Know The Plan?
Posted by Matt in Battlestar GalacticaAfter three spectacular seasons, and a monstrously disappointing fourth and final season - not to mention the movies, the specials, the documentaries and multimedia tie-ins like the many comics and novels - is there any part of “The Plan” we don’t yet know? Maybe the seating arrangements at the “kill all humans” meetings? Which number Cylon went on coffee runs? Who filled the bubble baths in the resurrection ship? As I settle in with my sinus infection to cuddle up with my cat and prepare to watch Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, which just arrived in my mailbox today (thanks Netflix!), these are the questions I find myself asking. I suppose all will be revealed. Of course, that’s what they said about BSG Season Four, and it was revealed that Starbuck was an angel and that was about all. (Damn WGA strike! The writers were left with like three weeks to throw together the entire last season of one of the best sci-fi shows of the decade!)
I suppose I’m at least somewhat optimistic, albeit cautiously, or I wouldn’t have rented the DVD in the first place. I suspect that “The Plan” was to sell a crapload of Maxim magazines (mission accomplished!), and to ignite some interest in the Caprica spin-off (um, based on that pilot episode, not so much, but I’ll give it a shot. But first, I plan to spend a little more time with Maxim).
