Nathan Fillion cast as new Green Lantern. (Really.)

via Blastr

Nathan Fillion has been cast as the next Green Lantern ... wait, what?

Don't worry, fans: Fillion (Firefly) is not taking over for Ryan Reynolds in the second Green Lantern movie, assuming that the first one—due out this summer—is a monster hit. Instead, TV Guide reports that Fillion will voice the role of Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the new animated DC movie, Green Lantern: Emerald Nights, due out on DVD on June 7th.

The dulcet tones of Comics Cavern

I don't brag about it - actually kinda hid it for a while, but its known, I suppose, to some that in a past life I was a disc jockey and voiceover artist for some time. In light of that fact, and my crack-like addiction to anything related to blogging from the iPhone, I decided to take Cinchcast for a spin.

It's 3:00 am and I've got a bit of a cold goin' on, so if you think this sounds sexy wait 'til I've got my lozenge on and I've taken a moment to think through my theme before pressing "record". It'll be like Stephen Hawking covering Dark Side of the Moon with an auto-tuner. That's right, it'll freak you right the f**k out. In the meantime, heres my trial run, submitted for your approval. Let me know whatcha think!

Summer Glau talks being Supergirl and what lies ahead

via Blog@Newsarama

Whether as River Tam in Joss Whedon’s cult classic series and follow-up film, Firefly and Serenity, or as the indestructible android-from-the-future, Cameron, in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Glau has cornered the market on playing attractive, demure young females with the controlled homicidal power to destroy an opposing legion of trained warriors.

Aquaman: hung like a brine shrimp?

I think Gail Simone's a little sick of hearing how awesome her comics are. So Gail, allow me to take a moment to mention that your animated teleplays are freakin' hysterical as well. Last week's episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold featured one of the many teams Gail's well-known for writing, The Birds of Prey, performing a little number in which they rate the sexy score of the DCU characters as portrayed in the Brave and the Bold-verse - musically. No punches are pulled. Gah if only the Spider-Man musical had a prayer of being anywhere near this good - but then again, U2 aren't going to be making fun of Aquaman's weenis, so really Spidey just doesn't stand a chance.

Even by the high standards of this seriously underrated show, this was an instant classic.

(Spoiler alert: The Flash and and Green Arrow take it on the chin pretty hard in this number too.)

Ed Asner Back As Granny Goodness for Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

Ed Asner, who voiced Jack Kirby's superbitch headmistress-from-hell Granny Goodness on Superman: The Animated Series, is reprising his role for DCU Animation's next DVD release, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.

The former Lou Grant told Digital Spy,

"I don't think I have played any other female characters before... But if I did, she'd have more balls than any of them."

And if that imagery wasn't sufficiently cringe-inducing, I've gone ahead and created the above mash-up to help drive the point home.

You're welcome.

Batman Beyond DVD Set

Acclaimed animated series Batman Beyond is to finally be released on DVD.
Warner Home Video is to release the series as a complete boxset containing all 52 episodes alongside numerous bonus features.
Batman Beyond was a retelling of Batman set in the future and features new character Terry McGinnis as the titular superhero mentored by an ageing Bruce Wayne.
