'Batman Beyond' Will Be Back in 2012

As thrilled as I am about many aspects of DC's upcoming relaunch, I was concerned when I ordered the complete set of new #1s and saw that, contrary to reports that the title would continue, Batman Beyond was not included. For me and many other fans of Adam Beechen's take on the character, this caused more than a little concern, as Terry McGinnis will have only been 8 issues into a stellar run when DC pulls the plug on this incarnation of the Batman Beyond ongoing.

Well, good news - Batman Beyond will indeed be back, despite the fact that he won't be part of the initial "New 52."

From DC's Blog The Source:

BATMAN BEYOND #8 is the final issue of this run of the series. BATMAN BEYOND will return with an all-new #1 and story arc, “10,000 Clowns,” in 2012.

TFAW Offering DC's 'New 52' at Half-Price

There has been an awful lot of chatter surrounding DC's 'New 52' - and with good reason. DC Comics is relaunching it's entire line, meaning there's going to be a Justice League #1, Wonder Woman #1, Batman #1, and yes, Action Comics #1! This is historical!

TFAW is offering the complete set of 52 DC #1s, in stores August 31, for half off, or $79.74 total. It's a sweet deal, the best I've seen so far (I placed my order last night).

The deal is in effect through August 7. Click here for complete details and/or to place your order.

House Ads for DC's 'New 52'

We've seen most of these cover images before, but these upcoming house ads for DC's relaunched titles give us a sneak peek at the new logos, and the revised trade dress. Not loving a lot of the new logos, but moving the trade dress to the bottom is an interesting move - kind of depressing that it took 60+ years of publishing for us to get this inventive with page layout. And QR codes, that seems smart. So obviously, I'm of a few minds on this. What are your thoughts?

Lois Lane's New Man

Meet Jonathan Carroll, the man who fills the void in Lois Lane's heart left by the retconning of her marriage to Clark Kent in the upcoming Superman#1. Now this is a very rough scan so it's not entirely clear what's happening here, but it appears that this guy walks around the Daily Planet topless while Clark fairly seethes with rage. Hopefully he can take solace in the face that Carroll appears not to have nipples, which, while not a biological imperative for a guy, is a bit Ken Doll-ish as far as personal features go.

Awesome Art: Harley Quinn Re-Imagined

There's no shortage of controversy surrounding Harley Quinn's new look post-DC reboot. In fact, there's going to be a protest at Comic-Con, spurred in large part by her admittedly less-then-improved look as seen on the cover of Suicide Squad #1.

Next time, I hope DC lets artist Claire Hummel take a crack at Harl. Check out her awesome interpretations of the Clown Princess of Crime, and let me know what you think.

The New DCU: The Video Pitch

Well, they're not lacking in enthusiasm, I'll say that much. In a video that is heavy on the optimism and light on the humility, DC's Dan Didio, Jim Lee, Grant Morrison, Bob Harras and Eddie Berganza lay on the hard sell for the New DC.

Apparently, the best is yet to come, for real this time. What do you think, folks? Are we excited for September?

Post-Reboot Batman: Parents Still Dead

(Click here or on the image to view full-size)

It's comforting to know that, despite the many dramatic changes in store for DC's heroes, Batman's prime motivation/obsession remains essentially intact.
