'Birds of Prey #1' Teaser Trailer

Spanish agent David Macho Gomez is creating a virtual cottage industry out of these DC 'New 52' video trailers. He's the man behind yesterday's Legion of Super-Heroes and Resurrection Man clips, as well as the Stormwatch promo and even a Grifter trailer that was pulled after EMI filed a complaint with YouTube, claiming ownership of the music.

Well Mr. Gomez shows no sign of letting up with these excellent trailers anytime soon, and here's his newest creation: a teaser for the upcoming Birds of Prey #1, by Duane Swierczynski and Jesus Saiz, on sale September 21.

Action Comics #1 Preview

Perhaps the single most anticipated title of DC's New 52, the already sold-out Action Comics #1 shows a very different Superman, sticking it to the man and standing up for the little guy. Grant Morrison once again redefines the Man of Steel, along, with one of my favorite artists working today, Rags Morales. Personally, I'm very psyched for this one. Check out the preview below and let me know what you think.

Batgirl #1 Preview

Babs is back! One of the most controversial books of DC's 'New 52' is being handled by one of the best talents in the industry. Batgirl - Barbara Gordon, is back on her feet and being written by the scribe who has defined her for a generation, Gail Simone.

In an interview with the New York Post, Simone had this to say:

It’s tremendously exciting to see her smiling on the cover of her own hit book finally, ready to kick ass against Gotham City’s worst monsters.

She had a lot more to say, but then they ran these awesome preview pages and there may or may not have been some male squee-ing. Accounts differ on that last part.

BATGIRL #1

Written by GAIL SIMONE; Art by ARDIAN SYAF and VICENTE CIFUENTES; Cover by ADAM HUGHES

Yes, it's really happening!

Barbara Gordon is back as Batgirl – and she's going to have to face the city's most horrifying new villains as well as the dark secrets from her past. You won't want to miss this stunning debut issue from fan-favorite BIRDS OF PREY writer Gail Simone!

'Stormwatch' Video Trailer

From the ashes of Wildstorm, Stormwatch is returning on September 7, as part of DC's massive 'New 52' event. If you're not yet excited for Stormwatch #1 by writer Paul Cornell and artist Miguel Sepulveda, this video preview aims to change all that with awesome art and old-timey superhero drama music. It's pretty awesome. As a longtime fan, I was on board for this title as soon as I knew it was returning, but I'd imagine even skeptics and newcomers to the title would be won over by this video. Check it out, and let me know what you think!

52 Teasers for DC's New 52

DC Comics certainly loves that number 52, don't they? I suppose it's an auspicious one, as the post-Infinite Crisis series 52 showed an industry that generally takes an embarrassingly laissez-faire view of the concept of deadlines that an excellent comic could be published, every week, on time, for one year.

Now bask in the irony of the fact that a Batwoman series was one of the goals of the great experiment that was 52. Mmm that's good irony. Look, comics is a two-headed beast, you take the good with the bad and hope that at some point they allow a woman to be one of those two heads.

DC Comics is, of course, set to turn the comics industry on its ear with the unprecedented event that is The New 52, the relaunching of 52 titles as it resets much of its 70+ years worth of continuity, and in every sense of the word redefines what comics. Day-and-date digital, second-stringers moving to the front lines, new and/or improved origins - it's all a very big deal and quite exciting.

To tease us, they've been releasing tons of amazing-looking artwork, some very cool logos, and now, these teasers. Check 'em out, and see if you can match the quote to the title! There's no answer key, so you're going to have to wait and see if you're right when The New 52 rock your LCS on August 31.

  1. “If you’re not moving, you’re not living.”
  2. “If we stop looking to the present and the past, and instead we look to the future…if we ask ourselves what can be–what it will be tomorrow… then we’re asking the right question. Because to hope, to dream, to predict is to shape the city yourself, rather than to be shaped by it.”
  3. “Maybe this is all connected to that guy in Metropolis.”
  4. “You think you and your ‘army’ stand a chance against Superman and a half dozen Green Lanterns and Wonder Woman?”
  5. “They ended the revolution and freed our country. Then they disappeared.”
  6. “Do we look like ‘super-heroes’? We’re the professionals.”
  7. “He’s the worst kind of killer. One with no true pattern.”
  8. “Hee…That’s so cute. You think you’re scary. But mister, I’ve seen scary. And you ain’t got his smile.”
  9. “What I do, I do for the good of the universe. Something you lost sight of thousands of years ago.”
  10. “I’m losing control.”
  11. “We don’t… We don’t call it that. It could be the key to all human knowledge. Black holes. Time travel. Physics, on another level.”
  12. “What I want is your complete attention and for you to understand that your life is now mine.”
  13. “You are not the first doctor I’ve known that tried to play god.”
  14. “Flashpoint effect has definitely closed off time travel.”
  15. “I’ve always enjoyed your sense of humor, Booster.”
  16. “He makes a sound like a supersonic bomber. And then it looks like his shadow itself turns against him.”
  17. “How’s it feel to be nobody’s favorite super-hero?”
  18. “I remember a time when you would have begged me to stop playing superhero!”
  19. “Maybe I was never a good guy, and maybe I was never the really big fish. But if there’s one thing I do know from living other’s people’s lives, it’s that I’ve changed.”
  20. “How long have I been here? How long have I been frozen like this?”
  21. “I always thought you could change the world, Michael.”
  22. “Some people don’t like having their secrets exposed.”
  23. “The only reason I’m here is ’cause if anything happens to you–that would make me the worst former sidekick ever.”
  24. “You think I need a ‘team?’”
  25. “You could do so much good! WE could do so much good!”
  26. “Good to see you, Barbara.”
  27. “Nature sounds its own warning bell.”
  28. “Welcome to Cellblock D of the Central Asian Supermax Meta-Human Facility.”
  29. “I thought I’d left that world behind me. That maybe I could do more good working from the shadows. Apparently, I was wrong. I’m going to need help.”
  30. “You’re Welcome, my friend. And New York City, you’re welcome too!”
  31. “If that scarab pops back up, I want any Green Lanterns within five parsecs to know it.”
  32. “You’ve been partners with this guy for a couple of years, and you still haven’t told him where you really came from?”
  33. “A bunch of Lanterns have just died in sector 3599.”
  34. “We are too late.”
  35. “Because the entire time THEY have been studying ME? I have been studying THEM.”
  36. “This time it spells trouble.”
  37. “I swear to God I don’t know nothin’ about the Gotham Butcher.”
  38. “You’re just in time for your destiny.”
  39. “Miles? Why, my beautiful girls…. You can see forever.”
  40. “People are goin’ nuts. Wait ‘til they watch us kill him.”
  41. “Oh, God. Oh, God. I just murdered someone!”
  42. “You are the parent of your own fear.”
  43. “Kyle Rayner of Earth, you have been chosen.”
  44. “You’re not my partner, you’re my son.”
  45. “Find out who is under that mask.”
  46. “For this great mission I will need help. I will need followers who are prepared to follow me into the jaws of death, and worse…”
  47. “You’ll have my undivided attention… And I’m pretty sure I’ll have yours.”
  48. “Just when I’ve set up my new life, my old one comes back. Well played, Gotham.”
  49. “I didn’t even know how much I missed it.”
  50. “The dream isn’t over.”
  51. “The future is being re-made.”
  52. “Life isn’t without risk. You hear that bon mot a lot. But mostly around business. Or dating. Or eating fried food from street vendors. But we take risks all the time, every day, in a thousand ways. Driving a car. Talking to a stranger. Jay walking. Those are the little ones we don’t even think about. It’s the big ones that make it interesting. At least for me, it is.”

Well, I don't love all of the new costumes (though I sure am blown away by a lot of the art), but these logos for DC's upcoming New 52 relaunch, set to rock the comics industry's socks off next Wednesday, look pretty freaking sweet. What do you think, folks? Any favorites? Titles you're most looking forward to? Hit me up in the comments!

Awesome Art: What If 'Blue Devil' Got a Relaunch

I'd buy the heck out of this. I'm looking forward to Justice League Dark and the occult elements of DC's upcoming relaunch, but I sure would like to see Blue Devil get some love. I'm a fan of his from way back, and can't recommend enough Bill Willingham's take on him in the gone-but-not-forgotten Shadowpact.

Artist and Stumptown  co-founder Indigo Kelleigh created this awesome concept piece imagining what if BD made the cut to get a new title post-"New 52". It's a long shot, but stranger things have happened. Dan DiDio on OMAC, for example.
