The Avengers are assembled on the streets of Cleveland, where they're shooting a climactic fight scene that's actually supposed to be set in Times Square - but see, the Times Square is full of tourists who will actually get really excited when they see fireballs and explosions, and they'll gather around and ruin shots with their flash photography and wrongful death lawsuits.

Plus, Joss Whedon is naturally drawn to Cleveland, as it's the currently home to the Hellmouth. So check ou these awesome pics of Captain America and Thor in battlle - and a video that, while a lot granier then the pictures, is still a video and therefore pretty sweet. Enjoy!

In the wake of Fear Itself, the Marvel Universe is getting itself a brand new god of thunder!

Heh, heh - uh, no.

Get a load of Tanarus, described by Marvel as "the new god of thunder", in his debut appearance in November's The Mighty Thor #8.

After the events of Fear Itself #6, it looks as though there will be a need for a new thunder god, as Thor doesn't seem to be faring very well.

If you're a Marvel movie fan, you no doubt recognze Agent Coulson, the storytelling device Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who always pops up when it's time to get you pumped up for The Avengers. Here's a sneak peek at Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant, one of two Coulson-tastic featurettes to be included as extras on the upcoming Thor Blu-ray.

A decidedly different take on The Avengers than the concept art released over the weekend at Comic-Con. Sadly less complete, lacking both Black Widow and Nick Fury, but very cool and iconic nonetheless.

All six Avengers promotional posters released over the weekend at Comic-Con, combining to form an almost complete mega-poster. From left to right, that's the Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, and Nick Fury. The gap between is reserved for The Hulk, one of whose hands appears to be visible in the background of the Captain America poster - I wonder if Marvel might release one more poster before the Con is through to complete this image?

Marvel Studios has unveiled two new character posters teasing next summer's The Avengers. The newest offerings show concept art for Thor and Nick Fury.

IDW Publishing's Artist's Edition line, which kicked off in 2010 with Dave Stevens' The Rocketeer: Artist's Edition, debuted it's second title at Comic-Con: Walt Simonson's The Mighty Thor, Artist's Edition. Both editions take the art of the trade hardcover to new heights, with high-resolution scans directly from original pages, reprinted on high-quality, paper in oversized editions.

IDW has announced the next thee titles in the Artist's Edition line, to be released over the next several months.

Wally Wood's EC Stories: Artist's Edition - available October 2011

An oversized, hardcover collection, WALLY WOOD’S EC STORIES: ARTIST’S EDITION will present Wood’s art the same size as it was originally drawn, and in a book measuring an amazing fifteen inches by twenty-two inches. Thor will be released on across multiple formats September 13, 2011; DVD, Blu-ray, and a special edition Blu-ray combo pack, featuring the movie in HD in both 3D and 2D. But what really has my interest piqued is the bonus material:

Both sets come fully loaded with over 80 minutes of immersive bonus materials including an exclusive special feature that goes deeper into the Marvel Universe, a sneak peek into Marvel's The Avengers [emphasis mine), an unprecedented look inside the world of director Kenneth Branagh and much more.

Well, I for one am looking forward to seeing the world of Kenneth Branagh. Oh and that AVENGERS sneak peek sounds mildly interesting, too! Can't wait.
