'Teen Titans Go!' Joining DC Nation

It's been a busy week for superhero animation. Disney XD announced that it's Marvel Universe programming block will get a second season of Ultimate Spider-Man, while Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes will not be renewed; It will be replaced with a retooled Avengers series, set to debut in 2013.

So what about DC Nation? Cartoon Network's DC Nation Block has only good news so far. The success of the Teen Titans Go! shorts, which have been running as interstitials during Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, has led to the decision to return the heroes to a full series of their own. And so, beginning 2013, Teen Titans Go! will join DC Nation as a half-hour weekly animated series.

Here's Cartoon Network's take on TTG!, via press release:

“Character-driven comedy is the order of the day as this new take on the super hero series focuses on the funny business that happens between saving the world and living together as teenagers without adult supervision. They may be super heroes who save the world every day … but somebody still has to do the laundry! With the ability to turn into any animal or detach their robotic limbs, teenage pranks reach a whole new level. And even super heroes have to take Driver’s Ed. to get a license – especially after wrecking the Batmobile on an unauthorized joy ride to impress a girl!”

'Beware the Batman' Promo Poster

Beware the batman

Warner Bros. has confirmed the new Batman animated series will debut in 2013 on Cartoon Network. Titled Beware the Batman, it will feature Batman fighting criminals with assistance from a pistol packing Alfred and a, uh, katana-wielding Katana.

Here's the synopsis from Warners:

A cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, Beware the Batman incorporates Batman’s core characters with a rogues gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a “Batman show.” Featuring cutting-edge CGI visuals to match the intricate twists and turns of the narrative, Batman steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight for an entirely new generation of fans. With WBA’s Sam Register executive producing, and Batman Beyond’s Glen Murakami and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’s Mitch Watson producing, Beware the Batman, based on characters from DC Comics, is coming soon to Cartoon Network!
