'Tiny Toon Adventures' Staff Illustrated by Bruce Timm

Check out this snapshot of the modern golden age of animation; the staff of Tiny Toon Adventures, drawn by Bruce Timm in 1990. Timm and Paul Dini would, of course, go on to create Batman: The Animated Series and, subsequently, the DC Animated Universe, which is still going strong (the full-length feature Justice League: Doom is set for release in 2012), and others in this crew would later work at Spumco, Pixar, and on The Simpsons. 'Green Lantern' Animated Series Preview Clip

There's Hal Jordan, in all his CG glory, from the Comic-Con preview clip for the upcoming Green Lantern animated series on Cartoon Network. My initial impression is that while the series looks action-packed - always a good thing - Bruce Timm's amazing character design and flair for architecture that worked so well on Batman, Superman, and Justice League Unlimited, neither needs nor benefits from a CG update. Hal looks a little bit like a Nintedo Mii, and it just kills me because Green Lantern has just come off of a critical and commercial failure in the theaters - and as usual, the tie-in game was a dud - and a poorly executed animated series would be a multimedia trifectat of fail. And the Green Lantern Corps, frankly, deserves better.

Check out the trailer, and let me know what you think.

'The Flaming C' Trailer

What began as a gag when Conan O'Brien met with DC Animation god Bruce Timm last December... continued as a gag at Comic-Con. Coming sometime to someplace, maybe, it's The Flaming C!

'Green Lantern: The Animated Series' Teaser

Third time looks to be the charm for Green Lantern, whose multimedia franchise debut has been a bit of a stumble thus far with largely lukewarm-or-lower responses to both his motion picture debut and the DCU animated feature Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.

Bruce Timm to the rescue. The name Timm has been synonymous with masterful DC animation of the kind not seen since the Fleischer Bros. Superman shorts ever since the groundbreaking Batman: The Animated Series.

Now Timm, armed with CG animation and not just Hal Jordan but the Guardians and the entire GL Corps, prepares to shine Green Lantern's light on the Cartoon Network.

Take a look at this teaser for the upcoming Green Lantern: The Animated Series, and let me know what you think.
