Batman Titles Price Bump: DC Moves the Line to $3.99

Well, so much for holding the line. DC Comics has announced that its two main Bat-titles, Batman and Detective Comics, will be moved up to a cover price of $3.99. DC executive vice president of sales, marketing and business development John Rood told Newsarama that the extra pages are being added for a "story reason," but declined to elaborate.

Batman and Detective Comics join Justice League, Action Comics, All-Star Western and Men of War in the $3.99 price bracket. For those wishing to buy the combo pack including a digital download, that price goes up to $4.99.

Cover Art for The Penguin's First Appearance Up for Auction in November

Waugh waugh waugh, Caped Crusader! I'm riding an ostrich, holding an umbrella! Before long I'll be tying the kid to giant typewriters for some reason!

It was a more innocent time when Bat-villain The Penguin first appeared on the cover of Detective Comics#67, a time before the street belonged to the Goddamn Batman, let alone the F**king Batgirl. Jerry Robinson's original art for the Golden Age classic is going to be auctioned by Heritage next month, and it's safe to assume that it's going to to rake in beaucoup Benjamins.

DC Cover Previews: Justice League, Detective Comics, and Action Comics #4

So what do you think of the New 52 so far? I want to see some comments. If you're like me, you're loving some of it, and are having trouble finding the words to describe how you feel about Hawk and Dove.

Here are some upcoming covers from the heavy hitters: Justice League, Detective Comics, and Action Comics #4. How about that Aquaman? Why is it that all the Justice Leaguers seem so intent on killing each other when they first meet? The way things are shaping up, this is going to be a seriously dysfunctional superteam.

Detective Comics 27 Production Proofs Offer Stunning Look At First Batman Art

via Bleeding Cool

Every time you think you’ve seen it all when it comes to original comic book art something turns up to prove that you haven’t. Exhibit A for that rule today is the Heritage Auctions announcement that 4 pages of 1939 production proofs from Detective Comics #27 just surfaced, having been in the possession of a man living in an apartment building were Bob Kane once lived, who rescued it from the curbside trash some 45 years ago.
