Harry Lennix Joins 'Man of Steel' Cast

Harry Lennix (Dollhouse) has joined the cast of Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

Variety reports that Lennix will be portraying General Swanwyck, a new character, this is particularly significant due to Christopher Meloni's confirmation that his as-yet unnamed role in the film is also that of a General. I'm just going to go out on a limb and guess he'll be Sam Lane.

Between legal battles and the critical and commercial failure of of Snyder's last film, Sucker Punch - not to mention the astonishing fact that the last decent live-action Superman movie was 1980's Superman II - there are many reasons to fear for this new iteration of Superman on the big screen. The cast, however, is not one of those reasons.

Lennix, an excellent actor with a proven track record in sci-fi/genre entertainment (Dollhouse, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions) joins an impressive cast including Meloni, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Julia Ormond, Russell Crowe, and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman.

Man of Steel will be produced by Christopher Nolan, and is set to begin shooting towards the end of the summer with an expected release date of December 2012.
