Angry Birds of Prey

Two of the best things in comics today - Gail Simone, one of the greatest creators in comics today, Birds of Prey in particular being a comic whose characters she's displayed a remarkable affinity for - and Angry Birds, the biggest thing in gaming addiction since World of Warcraft.

I would buy the hell out of this. I would even go so far as to buy the inevitable Black Lantern pig variant.

Another brilliant idea from the comic geniuses at The Gutters. DC, make this happen!

The Gutters - Now In Book Form!

The Gutters, one of my favorite comics, web or otherwise, has finally been collected in deluxe hardcover format! Yes, as the major publishers are still wrapping their minds around how to gracefully make the transition from print to pixel, The Gutters has flipped the script and taken their brilliant comic about said publishers from your laptop to your bookshelf, via the Absolute Ultimate Gutters Omnibus Volume 1, a title that is super-serious and absolutely not remotely a dig at publsihers' incessant repackaging (and collectors' incessant repurchasing).

If you're not reading The Gutters, you really should be. And if you're already a fan, I'm sure you'll be as psyched as I am to do what we comics fans do - pay money for stuff to put on our bookshelf and/or coffee table.

Seriously, i can't speak to the specifics of the AUGO, as I've only just placed my order, but here are the vital stats, straight from The Gutters' own Ryan Sohmer:

... the book is 128 pages, containing 64 Gutters pages, a cover by Darick Robertson and a forward by Daniel Way. If that weren’t enough, the hardcover is also MASSIVE, oversized at approximately 14 by 12 inches.

You can read The Gutters on their website, and the book is available for sale exclusively through their online shop.

The Washing Dead

The Gutters reminds us of the Walking Dead that might have been. I think it's fair to say that we, as viewers, dodged a bullet.
