'Powers' Casts Jason Patric as Christian Walker

FX has locked down Jason Patric for the lead role of Detective Christian Walker in their upcoming  adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's Powers.

This comes just a day after confirmation that actress Lucy Punch will play Detective Deena Pilgrim. So the Powers pilot has its two lead characters firmly in place now, joining the already cast Charles S. Dutton (Captain Cross) and Bailee Madison (Calista).

The Powers pilot, written by Charles H. Eglee and to be directed by Michael Dinner, is slated to air on FX in early 2012.

Charles S. Dutton Joins 'Powers'

Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's Powers FX pilot has signed actor Charles S. Dutton as Captain Cross.

Dutton is the first confirmed casting for a show that's been the subject of much lobbying and speculation. FX has been courting Friday Night Lights' Kyle Chandler for the role of Christian Walker, many believe (and hope) that the role of Deena Pilgrim will go to Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff.

Powers, written by Charles Eglee, will be directed by Michael Dinner, and is scheduled to air in January.

Powers on FX: Let the Fan-Casting Begin!

When I saw Brian Michael Bendis' announcement that FX has officially greenlit a Powers pilot, I thought the same exact thing as apparently billions of others:

Katee "Starbuck" Sackhoff is Deena Pilgrim. I mean she was just born into that role. Apparently Powers Website designer Tim Daniel agrees with me.

 From Powers artist Michael Oeming:

One of the best parts of the announcement of the Powers pilot for FX is casting speculation. The one consistent name that keeps coming up across the board is Katee Sackhoff as Deena Pilgrim. Tim Daniel, the Powers web master and often book designer made this for our message board, which is playing the casting game. You can find it here- http://www.606studios.com/bendisboard/showthread.php?t=204531 Check it out, see what fans are saying about Walker. Some interesting choices. Anyway, thanks Tim, this is sweet!-

Yes indeed it is.
