'Captain America' Deleted Scene Spotlights the Howling Commandos

Check out this deleted scene from Captain America: The First Avenger, one of many bonus clips that will be included on the DVD and Blu-ray, in stores October 25. Bucky and the Howling Commandos are up against HYDRA, fighting in the trenches while Cap gets his Betty Grable on at a USO show. Yeah, that's a good use of the Super-Soldier serum. Erskine would be proud.

'Avengers Assemble' Featurette from 'Captain America' Blu-ray

Check out Avengers Assemble, a featurette that's included as a bonus on the Captain America: The First Avenger Blu-ray. It spotlights the moments in the Marvel Universe movies that in ways ranging from the awesome to the kind-of annoying have laid the groundwork for the assemblage to begin in The Avengers, thus presumably making more box office dollars than if Star Wars had a baby with Titanic, and named that baby Twilight. Which, incidentally, is the plot of a screenplay I'm shopping. Spread the word!

Captain America '70s TV Movies Coming to DVD

For us children of the '70s, it's a painful truth that this was about as good as superhero movies got for us until Christopher Reeve's Superman flew onto the big screen. I actually remember watching both Captain America and Captain America II: Death Too Soon on television when they first aired, and honestly, back in 1979, little baby Matt thought that Cap's amazing hang gliding motorcycle was the bomb.

Like Battlestar Galactica, Cap's come a long way. But that's no reason we can't indulge in a little nostalgia, a specialty of Shout! Factory, who are releasing both movies on a double feature DVD, set for release on October 18. Whether or not you have fond-ish memories of '70s Cap, you'll get a kick out of this highlight reel.

Captain America -- When former Marine Steve Rogers is in an accident, his only hope for recovery is an injection of the FLAG super-serum — created years ago by his own father — which enhances each of his senses, as well as gives him great strength and fast reflexes. And to help him bring his attackers to justice, a government agency outfits him with a motorcycle and powerful shield, then turns the newly formed Captain America loose on the nation’s enemies.

Captain America II: Death Too Soon -- Captain America returns to carry on the legacy of his father and defend the country — this time, however, he faces off against the terrorist known only as Miguel and the threat of a chemical agent that rapidly ages those who come in contact with it.

Stan Lee 'Avengers' Set Pics Emerge

Sure, we've seen Cleveland get blown up, crashed Quinjets and Avengers cast and crew in Central Park - but I think I speak for the fans when I say "where's Stan Lee?" If it's a Marvel movie, it's gotta have Stan, and The Avengers is no exception.

Upon seeing the pics of Stan, chilling at an outdoor cafe with Chris Evans, I immediately came up with a theory which, according to Worst Previews, is shared by others who have seen the photos. Possible spoilers ahead:

The scene features Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) sitting at a coffee shop with Lee sitting at a nearby table. Rogers is then joined by an older man, who some believe is a fellow-soldier from WWII.

That was my thought as well; the juxtaposition of the two immediately calls to mind the Captain America: man out of time thing which is a staple of the comics, and of course is going to need to be addresses in The Avengers.

New 'Avengers' Promo Art (Now With More Hulk!)

This promo art that Marvel is showing book retailers for their upcoming Avengers tie-in, a trade collection titled Road to the Avengers, gives us a good look at what sort of Hulk we'll be seeing. The Hulk is the biggest wild card of the film, as both of the movies starring the jade giant this past decade were notable box office and critical failures, and have been somewhat disowned by Marvel in that they're certainly not seen as runners-up to The Avengers in the way that Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America are - despite a Cap-related easter egg on the DVD for The Incredible Hulk.

So unlike the other Marvel heroes, who will be building on continuity from their hit films, the new Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, is, for all practical purposes, being rebooted  for what is likely to be Marvel's definitive franchise for the years to come.

I think he looks pretty badass - less like the "Hulk just want to be left alone" brooder, and more of a scrapper with the strength and confidence to pick a fistfight with Zeus. That one didn't end will, but still. You've gotta be hardcore to even to step into that ring.

Here's Marvel's official synopsis for Road to the Avengers:

Gear up for the upcoming Avengers movie with these official in-movie continuity stories starring Avengers mainstays Iron Man, Captain America and the Agents S.H.I.E.L.D.! First, it's an expanded re-imagining of the original Iron Man, featuring bonus scenes not in the movie! Then, it's an all-new Iron Man adventure! What happened between the events of Iron Man and Iron Man 2? How did Tony Stark put a new chapter in the history books? And how did Iron Man break and rewrite all the rules? Then, it's Black Widow, Nick Fury and Agent Coulson in espionage action! Think you know S.H.I.E.L.D.? Check out what you DIDN'T see in the movies! And finally, it's the official comics prequel to the blockbuster Captain America! Steve Rogers is the inspiration for millions during the dark days of World War Two -- but where did he get his inspiration from? How did he meet his best friend, "Bucky" Barnes? And what set him on the path to becoming the First Avenger? Experience an all-new Cap adventure on the European battlefields.

'Avengers' Set Pics and Video of Captain America and Thor

The Avengers are assembled on the streets of Cleveland, where they're shooting a climactic fight scene that's actually supposed to be set in Times Square - but see, the Times Square is full of tourists who will actually get really excited when they see fireballs and explosions, and they'll gather around and ruin shots with their flash photography and wrongful death lawsuits.

Plus, Joss Whedon is naturally drawn to Cleveland, as it's the currently home to the Hellmouth. So check ou these awesome pics of Captain America and Thor in battlle - and a video that, while a lot granier then the pictures, is still a video and therefore pretty sweet. Enjoy!
