Bring the Venture Bros. to life
Eek. That's - that's a disturbingly realistic mullet happening there. Think you've got what it takes to portray realistic renditions of the adorable little cloney-scamps, their bodyguard, or perhaps their super-villain nemeses or magic neighbor? Prove it! Enter the Realistic Venture Bros. Challenge at CG Hub! Or just check in and see artists work their stuff on Team Venture, the Guild of Calamitous Intent, and - is it too much to hope for the Revenge Society? Brown Widow? I know we're gonna see some Trianas! And, of course, lots and lots of Brocks. The deadline for the contest is Tuesday, October 19 at midnight, PST, so if you're planning to enter, you'd better get crackin'. That mullet won't render itself!
Venture Bros. preview pic disturbing on several levels
I shudder to think at how Dean ended up in this position. Sgt. Hatred's presence in the shot, as always, adds an extra layer of creepiness.
But they wouldn't. Oh who am I kidding, they totally would. But it seems unlikely.
Oh, and don't forget - Venture Bros. Season 4, Volume 1 hits stores on October 26!

New Metalocalypse Tonight!
In light of the fact that TV listings services can't seem to keep the show's admittedly crazy-inconsistent schedule straight, I thought I'd remind all you Klokoteers that there is in fact a new episode of Metalocalypse tonight. Wouldn't want that to get lost amidst the 50 gazillion other shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Sym-Bionic Titan, Dexter, Venture Bros., Children's Hospital - I could go on. There's a whole lotta fun to be had on the couch tonight, so don't forget about Dethklok! Also, the first issue of the new Dethkilok mini--series from Dark Horse Comics came out last week, and is awesome. Woulda been even more awesome if Eric Powell had done the interior art too, but its still pretty brutal.

Obama election documentary takes me back to the glory days - of the Boondocks
I'm way behind our President, and it really was a beautiful thing that he was elected. Out of the two candidates, he was the infinitely better choice, and what a wonderful moment in history! The fact that he's kinda sitting out the fight while our country erupts into Civil War because he can't magically fix things overnight, I'm not nuts about. Ya gotta fight to win, Obeezy!
That said, it really was a beautiful, if sadly short-lived, moment of hope and unity. It's telling, however, that I'm more nostalgic these days for the brilliant, but apparently canceled, Boondocks. Canceled may not be the word I'm looking for here. My understanding is that Cartoon Network/Adult Swim wants it back, but for reasons unknown Aaron McGruder isn't interested. Such a shame. The season three opener, you may recall, featured a documentary much like the one featured above, including this gem of a tribute to Barack from Wll.i.am and Thugnificent:
What you most likely didn't see, was the president's response to the clip, posted at Boondocks Bootleg:
Still, I'm looking forward to 11-4-08; and, of course, to the release of the Boondocks season three DVD set. Which, last I heard, was set for release in - sigh - November.
Dethklok Comic Brutalizes Social Networking
via Underwire
A hundred times more popular than The Beatles, Metalocalypse’s cartoon metal band Dethklok thrashes into comics this fall. And it’s leaving piles of social networking drones in its wake.
The first issue of Dark Horse Comics’ miniseries Metalocalypse/Dethklok arrives Oct. 6 for $4, and it’s quite the headbanging hoot. When all is said and done, the spoof thrashers of Adult Swim’s Dethklok, led by guitar and comedy virtuoso Brendon Small (Home Movies), will have destroyed Helsinki, and perhaps what’s left of Twitter and Facebook’s integrity.
