With Rise of the Planet of the Apes premiering today, what better time to revisit the classic Simpsons episode in which Troy McClure starred in the musical Stop the Planet of the Apes, I want to Get Off!?
Apes will rise - you may as well dress for the occasion.
Most of the promos for the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes have focused on the calm before the storm; the lab experiments conducted by James Franco in a search for an Alzheimers' cure that inadvertently makes Apes super-intelligent and super-pissed.
The newest trailer, from Comic-Con, takes us right to the heart of the action, the titular rise of the apes. It's pretty awesome, and a teensy bit spoiler-ific. If you don't mind the spoilers, check out the action, and let me know what you think.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes premieres in North America on August 5.
The latest full-length UK trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes is awesome, but with a serious caveat - it pretty much breaks down the ENTIRE PLOT of the movie. It's difficult to know whether it was edited by a moron or a genius, I guess it really depends what the intent was. I'll still see it, it looks amazing, but I'm pretty much guaranteed very few surprises having seen this.
With that in mind, watch freely and of your own will, or wait until you've seen the full-length version in the theaters.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes premieres in the U.S. on August 5.
I'm not going to lie; I'm a diehard Planet of the Apes fan who was profoundly disappointed with the original, Mark Wahlberg reboot. With that in mind, and with the knowledge that we live in a world in which the best of ideas can go tragically wrong on the big screen as so tragically proven this weekend by Green Lantern, I've been approaching Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the forthcoming prequel, with an open mind, and ready for anything.
Every single promotional clip and trailer has blown me away. I have gone from cautiously optimistic to seriously hardcore excited for this film in a very short time, and this newest international trailer is just breathtaking. After watching this, there's no doubt in my mind that Rise will be one of the best of the summer's cinematic offerings, and that it will set the standard for a new Planet of the Apes franchise that will not only live up to its legacy but quite possibly surpass it. Take a look at this action, and let me know if you're as psyched as I am.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes premieres on August 5th, and stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis.
Wow. This clip has me so excited for the release of Rise of the Planet of the Apes that I couldn't even come up with a cheesy pun to go with for a title. Oh wait, I got it, "Fear-y of Evolution". Yeah, ok, let's just roll the clip then.
That's the most impressive promo yet for this already stellar looking movie.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes arrives in theaters on August 5.
What's that, you say? Radical experimental brain surgery? Sure, put James Franco on it, WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG??
The other day I showed a brief sneak peek at the apes from Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the forthcoming Planet of the Apes prequel, and here's the full-length trailer. Looks like it's going to be another busy summer at the movies.
An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
OK, this is pretty much the definition of "teaser" - I mean, it's a two-second clip. Nonetheless, here's a sneak peek at what the apes in the forthcoming Planet of the Apes prequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, will look like, courtesy of the FX wizards at WETA.
