New 'Avengers' Trailer Might Be Best Thing I've Ever Seen

As promised, here's the new trailer for The Avengers. Contrary to initial reports, there is loads of Hulk here, in addition to more story, new footage, and loads of Joss Whedon's signature angst, showcasing the flawed characters that make hallmark of his, and Marvel's, stories so extra awesome. Nick Fury is "desperate," Iron Man is "volatile and self-absorbed," and Bruce Banner thinks that the whole team is a "time bomb."Check it out, and let the countdown to May 4 begin!

'Avengers' New Poster, UK Title Change

Marvel has released a new poster for The Avengers, featuring the team unmasked and standing watch over a battle-damaged New York City. Additionally, the film has changed it's title in the UK. The movie will be released there under the name Avengers Assemble, in order to avoid confusion with the beloved '60s television series (and its less beloved cinematic update of the late '90s).

New 'Avengers' Trailer Coming Wednesday

Confirming reports that have been circulating for the past several day, the official Avengers Facebook page has announced a new trailer premiering Wednesday, February 29. Those reports, by the way, suggested that this new trailer will be both more spoiler-ish, and less Hulk-y. Yes, those are words now.

New 'Amazing Spider-Man' Trailer - Enter Rhino!

Rhino asm trailer

As if The Lizard weren't enough, Spider-Man goes up against the scariest looking version of The Rhino I've seen yet in this trailer for the new Amazing Spider-Man game.

Unlike all of the other cross-species, which were created after Curt Connors terrorized the city as the Lizard, Rhino was the result of a pet project belonging to a corrupt Oscorp executive with access to Connors’ research. Abusing this access, he applied this top-secret knowledge to black-market dealings.

Without the knowledge or consent of his superiors at Oscorp, the executive forcefully enlisted the help of Dr. Michael Morbius, threatening to end the reclusive biochemist’s career if he refused to help. Morbius reluctantly complied, applying the rhinoceros DNA with which the executive supplied him to a cross-species serum similar in nature to Connors’ own for the Lizard.

The Amazing Spider-Man game picks up immediately after the events of the upcoming movie, so we'll likely be meeting several villains who weren't in the film - but who we can hope will appear in future sequels. The game hits stores on June 26, 2012.

First Clip from 'The Amazing Spider-Man'

In the wake of the premiere of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Sony is emerging with a clip from The Amazing Spider-Man, which looks much, much better. Although there's no high flying, web-slingy fun here, just a doorman having fun with post-9/11 security powers and Peter Parker totally not getting it. Will he make it to dinner with Gwendy? Stay tuned!

New 'Avengers' Image: Thor and Coulson Assemble

OK, it's gotten to the point that Marvel can just release any old still of two characters doing nothing in The Avengers, and I squee. Case in point, here's a pic of Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, possibly deciding how hard they're going to kick Loki's ass, possibly bidding on obscure parts for the Heilcarrier. Either way, Im' psyched.

Critics Pile on 'Ghost Rider'

Ghost rider spirit of vengeance

It couldn't have happened to a nicer movie. From the nastiness of the Gary Friedrich case to the unpleasant and unprofessional treatment this and many other websites received from a bumbling SOPA loving promotional firm in the run-up to the premiere, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance had a lot of baggage. That, and it's a sequel to one of the most universally loathed, creatively bankrupt comic book movies in history. For me personally, it was the longest 90 minutes I've spent at the movies in a long, long time. It's a long-running joke that Nicolas Cage runs the gamut between great and terrible in his performances and in the projects he chooses. With Ghost Rider, he's two for two. Comics and comics fans deserve better.

Let's see what the critics, who as of this writing have SoV at 16% on Rotten Tomatoes, have to say:

"This is a movie about a flaming skeleton that rides a motorcycle -- there's no excuse for it to be this dull." - The Wrap

"Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor bring nothing of note to this hackneyed follow-up to the money-raking original. "- Radio Times

"… less a film than a tattoo that lasts 90 minute" - Empire

"Even the effects are likely to leave you cold: turns out, a flaming skull is only scary the first time around." - New York Daily News
