Andrew Garfield talks about Landing the Role of SPIDER-MAN

via GeekTyrant

It's been two months since it was announced that Andrew Garfield would take on the role of Peter Parker in Marc Webb's new 3D Spider-Man reboot. Garfield is still an up and coming actor, and before we see him take on the role of Spider-Man, we see him in Mark Romanek's new film Never Let Me go, as well as David Fincher's The Social Network.

Todd McFarlane Spider-Man Cover Sells For $71,200

via Bleeding Cool

Recently a Frank Miller Daredevil cover went for over $100,000. Now a more recent McFarlane cover is heading into that ballpark. From Amazing Spider-Man 323, with the Lizard, appearing in the next Spider-Man movie. But this is not one of Todd’s most high profile covers and one can only guess at how much something like the cover to Amazing Spider-Man 300 or 301 may go for.

J. Jonah Jameson's Highlight Reel

Like Eeyore, everything happens to Jonah. He's the crazy, cranky, old-timey curmudgeon who is immensely lovable despite a lack of any redeeming qualities to speak of. And as with all things Spider-Man, he injected an enormous amount of awesome into the classic '67 Spidey cartoon.

Don't believe me? Just watch his action in this 10-minute "best of" reel.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Launch Trailer

With just six more days until the release of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, I would think that after all we've seen to date, anyone who likes gaming and Spider-Man would be pretty much sold on this one.

I, personally, pre-ordered like four months ago.

Apparently Marvel and Activision want to make absolutely certain that we're all giddy with anticipation, as they're making one last publicity push with this insane new trailer.

There's stunning gameplay footage, a look at the Spider-Men of each dimension in action (love that Ultimate black costume!), and new.  Sickass. Villains.

I suspect that I'm gonna be wearing this game - and my wrists, which already sound like cement mixers - right the hell out.

Ultimate Spider-Man on the iPhone: New Trailer and Screencaps!

With Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem tentatively scheduled to swing into the App Store for on September 1 (Wednesday, i.e. new comics day - tastefully done, Gameloft!), I thought I'd get you all hot and bothered with the latest trailer and a few stunning screencaps.

Behold!

And now, a few non-moving pictures:

Gameloft has a history of playing it a little fast and loose with release dates, and they haven't made a 100% firm commitment to Wednesday (press on the game has been careful to use phrases like "the game should be in the app store on September 1", so don't come raging my way if that date ends up being off by a few days.

Also, no price has been announced yet.

All the above notwithstanding, I'm so looking forward to an Ultimate Spider-Man game, the sooner the better, from Gameloft, a name which has become synonymous with consistently well-executed games for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Bird of Prey - The Noir Universe Vulture in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

I know that to most Spider-Man fans, the name "Vulture" summons up images of the capably-evil-for-his-age - but otherwise kinda silly - old man Adrian Toomes.

If you've been keeping up with recent issues of Amazing Spider-Man, you know there's a new Vulture in town (first seen in ASM #592) - younger and more hardcore, with even more questionable fashion sense than his predecessor and some serious dental hygiene issues.

But in the world of Spider-Man Noir,  the Vulture is a badasss of the highest degree.

He, uh, how do I put this delicately?  The dude ate Uncle Ben.

And you'll get to face off against this uncle-eating mutha in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions when it hits stores next month.  Just one more reason to be psyched for the release of this spectacular-looking game, in which you'll interact with (and clobber) characters from the mainstream Marvel Earth (Earth-616 if you're nerdy), the world of Spider-Man 2099, the Ultimate Marvel Universe, and - of course - the Marvel Noir dimension, home of ol' Fangs here.

Spidey to Have New Love Interest?

Heat Vision Blog is reporting that the narrowing down of the female lead for Mark Webb’s Spider-Man reboot is underway and they are also stating that the role is not going to be Mary Jane.
Starting today and heading into the weekend, select actresses are meeting with Webb and new Spidey actor Andrew Garfield. In a departure from the Tobey Maguire-Kirsten Dunst movies, the love-interest character is not Mary Jane. What isn’t clear is whether the actresses are auditioning to play Gwen Stacy, Parker’s other love interest in the comics (played by Bryce Dallas Howard in 2007′s “Spider-Man 3″) or some other new character. The script pages being given to the actresses have no name listed for the character.
I actually really like the idea of them going with Gwen Stacy as opposed to Mary Jane. I love the Gwen Stacy/Peter Parker romance in the comics and I think it’s one of Peter’s defining relationships (along with Uncle Ben) that propel him into the man/superhero that he becomes. That being said, I also really hope they don’t just make up some love interest character for the film – especially when Peter has so many love interests giving the writers so many existing avenues to go down.
As far as Heat Vision’s list of actresses up for the part, you can visit their story for the full break down, but some highlights are Lily Collins (The Blind Side), Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), and Imogen Poots (HAA! (The upcoming Fright Night remake)).

Cast complete for 'Spider-Man' musical

Broadway stars Isabel Keating (The Boy From Oz), Michael Mulheren (Kiss Me Kate), and Gideon Glick (Spring Awakening) will round out the large cast of the highly anticipated Spider-Man, Turn off the Dark, according to Variety. They join lead actor Reeve Carney who will play Spidey. Previews are scheduled for November 14, with a December 21 opening at Manhattan’s Foxwoods Theater. The stage version of Spider-Man springs from the minds of Julie Taymor, Bono, and the Edge.

Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark Musical

You know, I was all set to opine about this, but the first commenter to this piece, one "mark in nyc" pretty much summed my feelings up perfectly, so - take it away mark!

not even spider-man will be able to diffuse this bomb.
@Karen Valby…plying a little lose with the term “highly anticipated” aren’t you? who is highly anticipating this besides the show producers and publicist?

OK, granted, my opinion would have been an eensy bit more eloquent - and I would have checked for typos - but, essentially, "mark" and I are in total agreement. Whooo boy and as you read further down the comments the love for this latest Disney-ness coming to Times Square is nowhere to be found! This, my friends, is looking to be a disaster of epic proportions!
