TMI: The Saga of Daredevil's Fingers

Mark Waid and Paolo Riviera's run on Daredevil continues to perpetuate the impression that comics have an uncomfortable relationship with women, as these two scenes from DD #6 and 10 respectively do more for returning comics to their cultural role as 'girl Kryptonite' than AMC's Comic Book Men.

Lost Miller/Janson 'Daredevil' Page

Marvel editor Tom Brevoort posted this great lost Daredevil page, from the seminal Frank Miller/Klaus Janson run on the title, on his Marvel Age of Comics Tumblr.

Here’s an unprinted page by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson from the two-part angel dust story that was originally intended for DAREDEVIL #167 and #168, and which was rejected by the comics code. The story eventually saw print, retooled, as DAREDEVIL #183 & #184, but this page fell by the wayside.

I've literally been waiting decades for a new page from the Miller/Janson team. It's great to see it. It's a reminder of how great it is that the industry is out from under the yoke of the Code, and a level of artistry to aspire to.

Daredevil #9 Preview

Here's a look at Daredevil #9 from writer Mark Waid and artist Paolo Rivera, in stores January 11.

The most critically acclaimed series of 2011 forges full steam ahead into the new year as Marvel is pleased to present your first look at Daredevil #9 by Mark Waid & Paolo Rivera. Hot off his team-up with the world’s greatest super hero, Spider-Man, Daredevil heads underground to tackle a threat that only he can handle. Except when he’s greeted by the Mole Man and his Moloids, things take a turn for the worse! It’s the series that has everyone from IGN to USA Today clamoring and there’s no better time than now to see what everyone is raving about.

Daredevil #10 Cover Art

Daredevil is one of Marvel's biggest critical success stories of the year, rising from the ashes of an ill-fated event (Shadowland), only to relaunch under the expert guidance of Mark Waid. Waid has stayed true to the many incarnations of DD, from Stan Lee to Frank Miller to Brian Bendis and all points in between, all while finding new ways to express his powers and his handicap, and injecting a desperately needed dose of fun back into the title. Between Waid's writing and the spectacular art of Paolo Rivera, this is my favorite run on Daredevil in years and it looks as though things are poised to only get better.

Speaking of looks, check out Paolo Rivera's cover to the upcoming Daredevil #10, which sees DD going up against the Mole Man and, um, not faring particularly well. What is it with the Mole Man and the Moloids suddenly popping up all over the place? Not that I'm not a fan, it's just surprising is all. Daredevil certainly looks surprised, doesn't he?

David Slade on 'Daredevil' Movie Status

Daredevil reboot director David Slade took to Twitter to assuage fears that the production has stalled. Since the original announcement that he would relaunch the franchise, there has been radio silence while we've heard much about Marvel's other upcoming films like The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers. According to Slade, everything is on track for The Man Without Fear.

So, expect to hear more from the Daredevil front in 2012.
