ComiXology Adds 'Recently Reduced' Section

Despite my many concerns about the current state of digital comics - pricing issues, DRM restrictions and what becomes of the comics we're essentially renting when a digital distributer pulls a graphic.ly on us - ComiXology continues to be the best game in town for digital, in fact since I got my Retina-enabled iPad I'm enjoying the Comics app like never before. Still, those prices. It"s at least as much the fault of the publishes as it is of ComiXology - Marvel and DC, if they were being honest, would admit to a sort of benign collusion that says digital has to be a largely broken distribution method until they're ready to accept it as a viable revenue stream and are prepared for the fallout of the likely retail collapse. See: the music, video and book industries trajectories over the past decade and a half. The loser of course is the consumer who has to often pay more than is reasonable for new comics, but ComiXology continues to do what it can to improve matters. The addition of a 'recently reduced issues' section is a nice start, as many same-day digital issues launch at a price equal to or greater then their print counterparts, a price which often reduces over the next several weeks or months.
