Tank Girl - Bad Wind Rising Review
Alan Martin and Rufus Dayglo's latest Tank Girl saga, Tank Girl - Bad Wind Rising, is out in hardcover tomorrow (January 4).
It's a story of love, time travel, nihilism and destruction - all familiar themes for Tank Girl fans. It begins with turbulence as Tank Girl and Booga's relationship hits a rough patch, and they spend much of the story exploring life apart. It's a tried and true story vehicle that works very well here, and serves to flesh out Booga's character and back story. It also keeps the action going nonstop, right up until the climax which presents a huge twist, effectively resetting the events so far and introducing a major new challenge that requires everyone to band together.
It's a more classically told three-part story than I've seen from Tank Girl to date, while at the same time every bit as fun as ever. Tank Girl is goofy, crazy, romantic fun, and Bad Wind Rising is all these things and more. And by more, I mean a crazy time-travel apocalypse epic, though with the focus on crazy sexy fun. Also, kangaroo biker mods! Pick it up if you're looking for some great non-spandex reading to kick off your new year.
