Comic Book Science: Spider-Man IRL

It's always amazed me that out of all the crazy uproars over comics, from Wertham's war on crime (comics) through Fox News' horror at Superman kinda-sorta resigning his citizenship, that nobody has stopped to worry about the horrific science being taught in the pages of our favorite funnybooks.

Yeah... getting caught dead-center of a nuclear bomb? Probably won't turn you into a great big monster who can like, punch through planets. More like a stain. If you're lucky.

Similarly, having kids near nuclear reactors probably won't lead to sons with awesome claws or spunky daughters who walk through walls, and getting bitten by spiders really isn't something we ought to encourage. Let's watch, shall we?
