Dexter Season 6: The Dark Passenger Finds Religion?

You may have seen the recent promo for Dexter's upcoming sixth season, in which Dex assures viewers who might fear he's gone soft that he's "feeling like my old self again."

My take on that spot was that it was an attempt to win back the love of the Dexter fans who revolted over season 5, and to suggest that along with a year-long jump into the future, season 6 would see a return to the show's status quo.

According to Executive Producer Sara Colleton, it's anything but. In an interview with TV Guide, she not only flat-out denies that fan reaction has any role in the show's plot development, but she drops this bomb about what to expect that sounds quite unlike Dexter's "old self":

This season is about Dexter trying to figure out if faith is something he should teach Harrison, but before he can do that, Dexter, himself, has to figure out what faith is. So, you say that and immediately you think, "Oh, Dexter? Faith? No!" I can guarantee you that this is not any New Age religious stuff with Dexter finding religion. He explores something that is unexplorable and he tries to define something that's indefinable in a very, very Dexter-like way.

Dexter and faith. They actually touched on this in season 5, but it sounds like they're jumping in feet first.

What do you think, Dexter fans? Is this a good move? Are you looking forward to season 6?
