Fox Nixes 'Animation Domination' Crossover Event
Tomorrow night's planned crossover between Seth McFarlane's Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show, has been canceled due to the horribly timed theme of the event - a hurricane raging through the towns in which the shows take place.
In the wake of this week's tragic outbreak of storms, killing hundreds and decimating towns in the American South, airing three animated comedies about hurricanes would have been impossibly bad taste - and Fox reserves that right for its news programming.
The Hollywood Reporter reports:
A Fox spokeswoman confirmed that the crossover event will instead air next season and that the remainder of this season's episodes for the respective series will air as planned.
Which, it is not a stretch to assume, reads as tacit confirmation that all three series will be renewed.
Fox has experience dealing with sensitive subject matter, such as the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season three episode "Earshot," which involved a high school shooting incident. Although it was filmed months in advance, the episode was slated to air one week after the Columbine tragedy, and was delayed until the following season.
