File under AWESOME: IDW Publishing is expanding it's prestigious Artist's Edition line of trade collections, which set a new standard in re-presenting the seminal work of comics' greatest artists as it looked straight from the easel, to include classic Marvel comics. And in perfect timing, as Thor-mania is in full swing with the first summer superhero movie set to launch, they are presenting the work of Walter Simonson - the definitive Thor artist (and writer) against whom all other creative teams must be judged.

This is something of an early Christmas present for Thor fans, as Simonson's work on the character is really something unique and special, the kind of creator/character pairing that only comes along once in a lifetime, like Steranko's Nick Fury or Kirby on Captain America. 

Walter Simonson's Thor: Artist's Edition kicks off, appropriately enough, with Thor #337, in which Simonson changed the mythos forever with the introduction of the game-changing, fan-favorite character Beta Ray Bill. The book will make it's debut at San Diego Comic Con, and hit stores in July.
